Clifton L. Taulbert’s full biography is long and genuinely impressive! Here’s a snapshot:
Born on the Mississippi Delta under legal segregation, he went on to serve in the Air Force’s 89th Presidential Wing. His first book, Once Upon a Time When We Were Colored, became a national bestseller, a major motion picture, and a gift to Nelson Mandela. He has written thirteen books, addressed the Supreme Court at the invitation of Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, and received a Pulitzer Prize nomination.
Today he is President and CEO of both the Freemount Corporation and Roots Java Coffee. He has lectured at Harvard and the Air Force Academy, and continues to mentor others on community and character. Clifton and his wife, Barbara, live right here in Tulsa.
